We stayed at the hotel a couple of years ago for a birthday and had a wonderful dinner. We decided to come back this year but was very disappointed in the birthday dinner this time. The menu was very limited, and for the money that was spent was very expensive. I didn’t mind spending the money 2 years ago as the dinner was fantastic from appetizers to dessert, but this time the bill with tip came to 193:00 for basically 2 cod dinners, 2 salads and a $13 bottle of Estancia Chardonnay that was $42:00: Again would not of had a problem with this if the dinners were something to write about. Unfortunately we will not be back. Consistency should be number one in a restaurant if you want people to return. The ambiance is beautiful but is not worth going to dinner there. I do have to say our waiter was very attentive. We were also told there would be music outside with dinner but no one showed. Very Disappointed ☹️

We were there at the restaurant 2 weeks ago with a party of 6 for dinner. Very nice place, great view and garden, but the whole dinner was very disappointing and too expensive for what is being offered. It started out that the cocktail ( whiskey sour) came without any garnish. Followed by unpolished wineglasses full of water stains. I shared the crab cake appetizer with my husband. Looked and tasted like deep fried. Had nothing to do with a fluffy moist crab cake. We had a rack of lamb and the duck breast for main course. I expected more than 4 thin slices of duck for 49 dollar. The lamb was cold, the veggies lukewarm. After complaining about that the meat was lukewarm but at least the veggies were hot ;-). (52dollar) The waitress was very nice and polite but in a restaurant like this I expect a well trained and attentive staff. We had to get up and get the bottle from the wine cooler ourself to refill our wineglasses. This is definitely not called “fine dining”

Very nice staff. Great piano player. Food was waaaaay too expensive. I thought the cut of meat on the NY strip was tough. Crab cakes were very good. Everything was cooked and presented well but I expected a much better cut of meat. Probably not going back again at those prices.

What a great find. You can't beat walking their serene grounds and just taking in the views. It is also very unique in that the rooms are more like apartments than just a little hotel room. It is a bit pricey, but it is definitely worth it. I did not get a chance to try their in house restaurant so I can't vouch for that, but I will definitely try it next time.

No. It is not

How are you operating during the virus? Are there special consideration in place and is wearing a mask mandatory?

They are still open, but you have to wear a mask on the walk. They also only let you walk one way on the Gorge Trail, I'm not sure if that's been there before or if it's new due to the virus.

Fran, there is no on site spa or pool available in January. I would highly recommend http://www.mirbeau.com/skaneateles/ for your January trip if you are looking for those amenities in the winter. Cheers
