I've been shopping at safeway for at least 16 years now, all over the west coast, even in some shady neighborhoods... this one in particular i frequent and have noticed is sadly going downhill with respects to customer service. The store is clean and well stocked, but the employees there don't care to help customers, some are even rude, condescending and argumentative. it has made me and my husband consider shopping elsewhere, as this has not been just a one time experience, but has happened at least 5 times this year....its a shame.

My spouse and I went for a drive over to your lovely town and had a great feeling about the area. We found it to be warm and beautiful, just the right size, quaint and mostly friendly. We saw Safeway while exploring the area and decided to pop in. The store is clean, well stocked, small with a welcoming feeling and a nice market sense until we got to the check out. This was about 930am on Saturday march 26th, 2022. We were in the self check out and the clerk in the register just next to self check was helping a few customers. Everything seemed great until she began bantering with a customer who was not only at the counter, he had stepped away and she leaned over to add some more commentary rather loudly into the store, joking and mimicking her "perception of African American slang" communication. I am quite familiar with racial overtures. I was born and raised in the southern states of the US, my guy is a German national, both Caucasian and both highly offended and more so saddened that the Hispanic woman who seemed to be the shift supervisor (I could be wrong) who helped us said nothing, and the other Caucasian female worker said nothing. Is that really OKAY with them as well? I was surprised it meant nothing to them, although they are probably use to the behavior. That doesn't make it right, it encourages ignorance. The store is a 5 star, the staff bring it to a 1 star. That is truly unfortunate, and due to the lack of employees and current needs for staff things like that will likely continue to happen.

The cashiers/ Checkers were very friendly even working behind masks who can barely hear you. Give workers props who have to wear masks it sucks according to those who are honest. I do not shop hear a lot, but they had what I needed, Also a big selection of Cosmetics and toiletries, prices on those not so sure.
