My husband and I visited Egan Gardens for the first time recently and based on our experience, though we weren't quite ready to purchase I wanted to give this nursery a thumbs up due to their customer care. I was already impressed with their website ease and clarity of information, after reviewing several Salem nurseries online and Egan's website is *safe for browsing* unlike many others in Salem. After browsing the nursery and what's available, we took a walk around the grounds and were greeted by Ellen, who made a point of stopping to say hello and chat with us. Having relocated to Oregon from the Bay Area, Ellen's kind welcome and willingness to talk about our needs and educate us about plants, even though she didn't carry them, was quite generous of her. We had a wonderful first experience and will definitely be back once we get our garden plans in place. Thank you, Ellen! Take care and stay safe.

Hello, we have very small, young Yucca 'Color Guard' plants, but none of the others. Ellen
Hi Vickie, Yes we have several colors of Lantana now, and we will continue to have it into June if you prefer to wait until the weather is more reliable to plant them.
We have C. purpureus 'Sunset'. Not much of a selection, I'm afraid. Thank-you for checking with us. Ellen
Hello, Kay. Right now we have 12 varieties. Our supply varies; as plants sell, we restock from our favorite grower, McCoy Family Nursery. If there's a variety you're looking for you can call us and talk to Vance, 503-393-2131 ext. 2. He'll be able to tell you if we have it now, or if he can get it for you on our next refill. Thanks for checking with us, I hope we can help you.
Yes, we carry 2 sizes, a 2 cubic ft. bag and a 20 quart bag (that's a little less than 1/2 cu. ft.) It's really good soil, with the extra water-holding capacity that planters need. The people from whom we get all our growing soil for our crops custom-bag it for us.
Hello. We carry Jersey Knight and Sweet Purple. We have potted them up into 2 gallon sized pots, and they are $6.99. If you want just the roots, you can try calling Copper Creek Mercantile in Keizer - they may be able to help you. And, yes, this is a good time to plant them. Thanks for checking with us.
Thanks for buying one of our plants, Nelda. Water is the most important part of poinsettia care. They like to be lightly and evenly moist. They are damaged a bit if they dry out to the point of wilting. The roots will rot if they are wet too much of the time. Moderation is the way to go. If your plant feels heavy when you pick it up and the soil looks dark and moist on top, it does not need water. If it is light when you lift it and the soil looks light and dry on top, it needs water. If it is in between those two extremes wait and check it again the next day. Just do not let it dry to the point of wilting. I like to take my poinsettias to the sink, remove any wrappings, water them thoroughly and leave them to drain a few minutes in the sink. Then I put the dry wrappings back on and carry them back to their places. This gives the plants a thorough watering, and prevents possible water spot damage to furniture or wood floors.
Hello Mary Jane, We sell our plants to some good quality garden centers, as well as directly to the public at our Salem location. The closest to you is C & C Nursery in Sisters. You can call them at 541-549-2345 and see what their supply is. They would probably be able to fill a request from you on their next visit here if they don't have what you want on hand. Thanks for your interest in our plants. Ellen
Hi Amy, We don't carry fruit trees, though we do carry berry bushes. You can ask Guentner's on south Commercial or Terra Gardens on Cordon Rd. in Salem, or try Al's Garden Center in Woodburn. Thanks for checking with us, I hope we'll be able to help you with your next need. Ellen Egan
Egan Gardens has a nice variety of Japanese maples but I don't know if they have that specific one. You can always call them to see if it's available to order. Ask for Vance.
