My mom’s is currently at Marquis. Three days ago she told me that her roommate had been coughing a lot, and then tested positive for Covid. Last night my mom told me that now she also has Covid. We had been SOOO careful this whole time, I can’t believe she got it at a medical facility. I guess I was naïve thinking that they had everything under control and could protect the patients. I did talk to someone there and they told me that patients do come in and out for medical appointments so it could’ve come from that instead of actual employees. Maybe it is the same everywhere, And I honestly don’t know if she would’ve been safer anywhere else. Oh, and she says the food is terrible.

After surviving over 100 in the Kaiser ICU where he received excellent care, he was transferred to the regular hospital. At that time both the doctor and care coordinator were so anxious to get him out that they released him well before he was ready. He couldn't dress himself, stand up and had only been eating solid food for 2 days. Both the doctor and care coordinator told us numerous lies to get him released. Marquis at Mt Tabor has failed miserably in the rehab and health care departments. He is decompensating, receiving laughable physical therapy and other issues too numerous to list. The "doctor" is a joke and has only deigned to see him once in 2 weeks. Please don't punish your loved ones by sending them to this wretched facility.

My father was there for 7 weeks after he fell and broke his collar bone. The pros about Marquis Mt. Tabor was the coordinated care from PT, OT, nursing, social work and aides. The staff were nice, it was well staffed, the rooms were clean and it felt safe. The cons were the age of the facility and lack of basic adaptive equipment in the rooms and bathrooms. My dads bathroom was so small he couldn’t use it as he required an aide or his wife’s help to use the toilet and there wasn’t enough room. They provided a commode for him in his room but it was so rickety that it was unsafe to use. It just really needed basic safety upgrades so for that I give only 3 stars.

My father was at this facility last summer. He had Ulceritive colitus (UC), he also has alzehimers (diagnosed and on record). He needed to be on two medications to keep the bleedingfrom the UC under control. When they offered him one of the two medications he said he didn't want it (who wouldn't if you don't understand why--it was a suppository). They marked it in the computer and never told his doctor or family he was off the medication. He started bleeding. They didn't monitor the bleeding. He bleed so much he had a heart attack, and needed 8 blood transfusions. We are lucky he survived being there. When we met with the staff they were fully prepared to defend theselves legally- saying how he passed certian cognitive exams and therefore could deny medication. True or not, he was not medically safe without it and someone needed to know. No matter what the test said, he does have alzehimers and often asked each day what his health issue was and why he was there. He didn't understand the value of his medication. It felt bad that clearly their concern was fault, not his health or his life! We are a very involved family, tracking his health carefully, being there for PT visits, meeting with medical staff and visiting EVERYDAY and still this hapened. After my Dad was hospitalized again for almost a month we had him at Laurelhurst care facility and had a good experience. Tip-- we met with the director when he admitted and brought a typed document with concerns and things to bring their attention to in his care. I think that was very helpful.
