I have always liked this hike because it is not strenuous. This is a great hike for a family with young kids. Whatch out for poision oak. If you stay on the trail you will be fine.

I had a great walk from Blue Sky Ecological Reserve to Ramona Lake. The trail is wide, shaded, loved hearing the birds singing. There’s tables and benches to sit and enjoy your snacks. Lots of trash cans to place your waste. This area is well kept and nice. Going to Ramona Lake is uphill and no shade. I’m prepared with sunscreen, hat and lots of water to hydrate. Just me when I get there, so peaceful and lake is beautiful..

POWAY LAKE Good average hiking and less crowded in the early morning. Amazing lake view and easy to do with kids.

Yes it's fee to all. Even the rangers tours when offered are free. Less heavily used than iron mountain or potato chip.. go to timings dam

Lake Poway (next to Blue Sky) has fishing, yes, and a fishing license can be purchased at the lake. You can hike to Lake Poway from Blue Sky's entrance, but if you want to go fishing, better to just go straight to the lake.
There is a campground, but it is a day camp between Poway Lake dam and the reserve.
Dogs are welcome as long as they are on a leash. It's usually very hot on the trail from April through late November so make sure to carry enough water for you and your pooch. Lots of snakes too so keep an eye out for them.
6am I do believe. We got there at 7:15 and there was a good amount of people already enjoying the area
Yes! You can also include Lakes Ramona and Poway to get a variety of distances.
