Easy hike. Saw people walking their dog, mountain bikers, people fishing in the lake. Parking is plenty along the road. Restroom is also available. Do some research and check out the labyrinth that’s around the area. It’s close to the volcano. Enjoy

Awesome hike!! Had a great time going with some friends. Pretty quick, but with fantastic views. A lot of cool rock setups that looks like they've been set by other hikers. Would definitely go again!

Awesome hike!!! Not too far away from everything, you can take a more strenuous trail or a more moderate trail, lots of options, beautiful views. I highly recommend this hike.

Multiple routes on this site, one can make it easy and flat or moderately difficult with incline. There trail that surrounds the lake is an easy walking path with lakeside views. Hiking up on the extinct volcano reveals a 360 view of the Tri city area with ocean views and suburban encroachment. Overall a great hike for families and dogs. You can also take your mountain bike on the trail. And as always watch for rattlesnakes during the spring and summer

Yes, but there are lots of rattlers out. Keep your kids and dogs on the trail. Keep quiet and you will hear them if you get close.
Parking is free. There are a number of different entrances, all have free street parking.
There is no cave. There is a small hole in the side of the mountain that is partially fenced off.
Parts of it are, but once you are above the dam you'd want a trail stroller with bike tires.
I have occasionally seen people fishing there. But, call the city of Carlsbad and ask.
No camping. Nearest campgrounds are Ponto and San Elijo on the coast or Guajome Park in Oceanside.
No they're still ticketing mountain bikers
It's wet or damp when it rains and/or cloudy and it's dry when it's sunny
Depends where you park, there is multiple entrances. Some of them you can. I would suggest the tamarack street entrance, its a neighborhood and there would be 24hr parking :)
