Excellent moderate trail, harder on the way back. Can be muddy at the upper area, but it’s beautiful. Especially at sunset. Well kept and marked. Very peaceful. Love the lake area and wish I’d brought a kayak.

A nice hike down to hemlock lake and back up. The trail down is never steep and is very gradual. There are lots of small creeks heading down to the lake with lots of small waterfalls. You can also walk along the shore when you get to the lake. A very nice hike. I have gone back several times and realize I really love this hike. I've also hiked the trail down to Candice lake. That one is a lot of fun too.

The hike.down was leisurely. The walk through the field was muddy. View was amazing. We wished we had packed a lunch for a picnic by the water. The hike up was a good workout. Worth setting a pace and seeing if you can.stick.it out all the way.back up.

Very nice hike. Down to the lake shore and back was a little over 3.5 miles. The change in elevation is moderate, coming back up provided a nice little work out. The snow was deep enough that we could have used snow shoes, but we opted for micro- spikes instead. The hike was made easier by utilizing hiking poles also. The wooded scenery is very pretty. The lake was not frozen over, the water is crystal clear, there was a moderate fog enveloping the South end and the surrounding hills. The highlight was when two large, majestic, Bald Eagles soared fairly low overhead- what a fantastic sight! I will definitely return to this trail, really enjoyed it. I would recommend for any hiker in average shape, also recommend for children and dogs.
