We have lots of bad experiences since last year. Bottom line : Don’t believe their advertisement easily and never expect for great services from this HSBC branch.

Came here to open a student account because it is recommended by my student club. And my banker Ms. Feng is very helpful! She explained to me all benefits on the account in great details! Because I am new to the country, she even spent time helped me understand the US countries, how to get involve in school, how to do banking in the US, and much more. Highly recommended for everyone especially international students!

I have been a lifetime HSBC customer in multiple countries and so far this one is the least favourite of them all. They somehow excel at being more arrogant and condescending towards their customers than it should be. To be fair, all banks have similar issues but this one is outstandingly terrible. They alway smile at you with a "you-are-not-rich-enough-so-be-done-with-it-and-GTFO" look. Quite impressive, I must say, at expressing their resentment towards "insignificant" customers politely.
Aba I (ok)
I went in to ask about opening an account while I'm studying abroad and the gentleman talked to me for 45 minutes giving me tips on China. If this is the archive they give for people Wii aren't even customers yet, they really must go above and beyond for customers. Color me impressed.

I opened my US account from Australia, so it should be possible.
Yes, but you must bring photo ID to bank to finalize the set up process.
You can do it online.
