It was a labor of love for over eighteen years. The man who spearheaded it sadly did not live long enough to see it to fruition. There is a bench which was unveiled at the grand opening. His family lives nearby and we all can enjoy the beauty and serenity and cool tidal flow whist swimming in the dog days of heat. I for one thank him and feel blessed it's not just a concrete backwash like it was in the ninties
All of that land was originally a wetland. The lagoon is considered manmade because of the cement aqueducts that help to control the natural flow of water from the bay back into the ocean; allowing it to be more of a preservation of what was once there.. for the most part.
Now its protected
Google it.
