The Hopewell Indians DID enhabit this region. There are Hopewell mounds not far from there (in Chillicothe) and by Paint Creek. Ford Ancient is about a 45 minute drive from there. North and East, North, and North West of the area. The area is rich with ancient and early American history. Early spring is a good time to check with farmers in the area to walk their fields and possibly find your own artifacts. I grew up in this area and have many arrowheads and tools that were unearthed in my farming days. An Excellent day trip to ANY of these things.
