I was told many years ago that the hoodoo we know today was actually called heyrick and the mountain next to it with the Rock cliffs was called hoodoo.... They later changed the names around for better sales because no one wants to ski a mountain called heyrick ski area!!
A spire of rock that has an easily eroded column and a more resistant cap. Sometimes they look like mushrooms. They are kind of eerie, so they're called "hoodoos" That is how it got it's name.
