Yes, you need a land pass to access this trail. You can find one at the Georgia Department of Natural Resources website: gadnr.org Liscenses are valid for one year, a fishing license is less expensive than a land use license and still allows you to hike. Most libraries also have a day pass you can check out that will allow you to hike parks for free.

There is no collection box or person there, but you have to have a outdoor licence to go. Fishing is cheapest. If you don't and Wildlife or even police catch you, they'll kick you out.
You do not have to pay to hike
I've seen signs posted that say you have to pay for some kind of usage of the park but I've never seen anybody collecting payment or anything and I've been there and swam and walked the trail for a few hours before. I think perhaps the payment may only refer to camping or something.
Where we went you didn't have to. There was no collection box or attendant.
