You will be assessed a diagnostic fee. Should you decide to have the vehicle repaired, this fee will be applied to the cost of the repair.
I don't think it completely free. Some times auto repair shops waive diagnostic fees if you get the vehicle repaired at the site the diagnostics is performed.
