Yes they are. Some small patches let sun through but I say 95% of it is covered. Beautiful place to take a walk, picnic, BBQ, and go fishing. And it's right next to the Ft. Lauderdale beach.
Yes, at least where I went was shaded (not very much walking for me), and it was a pleasant walk.
Yes and some areas do have sun. Especially by the river the sun comes through.
