Awesome question!! The original part of the restaurant was built in 1886 and was many things over the years including a blacksmith shop, mail stop and quarters to the National Guard during a portion of World War 2. The Sanders family bought it in the 50’s and sold ice cream. Ron Sanders turned it into a restaurant in the 90’s. We purchased the restaurant in January 2012 and opened June 29, 2012. We have been blessed to be celebrating 7 years of successful business!!! You can follow this link to get more on the history and thank you for your question! https://www.mcfaulsironhorse.com/history

From what I under, it was originally a train depot in the 40s or 50s. At some point, it became an ice cream parlor, that eventually went out of business, and the more recently (5 or 10 years?) it was turned into the Ironhorse Tavern.
