It is supposed to be very hot this coming Sunday when we go to see the show. Would it be acceptable for my husband to wear a nice shirt with dress shorts and nice socks and sneakers?

Dress pants are better

On my Sunday visit all were nicely dressed, slacks dress shirts and suits. Really don't know about causal dressing and the AC was very cold.

I would recommend pants for your husband. There is a sort of dress code for the theatre. It may be okay for a matinee. Call the theatre and ask them.

for afternoon matinee I think it's just fine
