Keep a copy or snapshot of the paperwork (title & title transfer) that proves you sold it to someone. After you sell your car, take your front & back license plates so it'll make the buyer register the car under their name. You can trash your license plates. Finally, kill your car insurance &/or EZ tag. 😎
Destroy them our keep them as souvenirs. If the registration is current, I believe you can turn them in to your local tax office.
