"Nerve test" is pretty ambiguous. What test do you mean? Generally, anything that requires testing gets referred out, sometimes just to a Quest Diagnostics facility, but more often to a specialist in the appropriate field. Unless what you're asking about involves a basic blood draw, a urine sample, or a stool sample, it'll most likely mean a referral to a specialist.
