I've been going to lakeside for over 40yrs. Since I was a young child and I don't ever remember swimming in the lakeside lake I do have fond memories of speedboat rides and a little pier that you could feed thousands of hungry carp which all the kids loved doing, and fireworks over the lake every yr. I also think I can remember some kind of butterfly ride but if there was 1 it's been gone for at least 30yrs. I also remember my favorite ride every yr. Was a large Slide that you ride on a carpet or potato sack. Or they had a huge fun house with a laughing lady on the roof that was so much fun. Hope I answered a few of your questions.
As a seasonal Lakeside Employee i can answer a few of these. 1. The old Ferris wheel is there because it's not working. As far as why its still there, my assumption is that they just havent taken it down yet. 2. No idea 3. Because the park is old and occasionally planes have to be removed for maintenance. 4. Because one is either not working or undergoing maintenance. 5. Never. That is closed permanently, sorry for the inconvenience.
Okay, I'm not am employee of the park, but I do know this much. 1. I think that you're referring to the ferris wheel that no longer operates. And why it doesn't run any longer is because it was out of date and getting dangerous. 2. I don't know, but a lot has changed about the park over the years, this information can be found in their website though. 3. This is to balance all of the weight to make the ride safer. 4. Again, the other train was out if date, and it was cheaper to buy a new train than make updates and paint it. 5. A very long time ago (50 years) they used to have a pool, there are rumors that it might come back. But the lake has probably had it's last days. I really hope all of this helps! You can learn more about Lakeside and it's history, and the effect it has had on Coloradian culture over the years at their website. You can check it out at www.lakesideamusementpark.com
