You can sign up for a free service like credit karma that will allow you to check your credit whenever you like, and will also send you alerts, or if you're really worried, you can sign up for a paid service like lifelock. I wouldn't worry too much. Just having your cars isn't typically enough to do any real damage, but it never hurts to check your credit every so often. I believe every credit bureau is required to give you a free credit report something like 3 times a year (at least once). You can also call each bureau (equifax, transunion, and Experian, and put a lock on your credit. With a lock on the bureau, your credit cannot be used unless you unlock it.

It's imperative that you go to your local Social Security office and report it immediately you can also do this online
