The Original Pancake House is devoted to their patrons. That is why the wait staff is focused on the customers at or waiting for a table. In the U.S. a waitress earns a whopping$2.35/hour. The table customers make up the difference. A carryout order earns very few tips and ties up the kitchen which can hurt them on table tips. That is a double whammy to them. So when a restaurant only has a few hours to make their profit we should respect that and help them -- and the wait staff -- continue to be there for us.
As a waitress myself and looking at reviews to hopefully find a better job enviornment. I am very happy to hear this. Not many companies, (including the one i currently work for) care that much about their servers making money. You wont keep good servers that way, your servers play a big role in keeping your customers happy. Happy servers =happy customers = better business=more money.... for everyone. Now going to look into applying for a job here. Lol
This is normal when the restaurant gets too busy they stop taking takeout orders Everyone is always been nice to us
At least they know what they're capable of. Be thankful they didn't tell you 30 min & it took an hour. I know people who haven't worked in a restaurant don't get it. You can only put so much food out of a kitchen so fast. My guess would be 30 seconds per plate give or take. Be happy they're making things from scratch or goto McDonald's. Also consider the size of pancakes how many do you think they can cook at once how much space does that take up?
I have never had that problem.
Yeah they have a chip on their shoulder over there
I was a waitress for years at a Chinese restaurant and we never turned down carry out orders no matter how busy we were. We would make plenty in tips from carry out as well as in house. I handled everything from carry out to waiting on my own tables as well as bussing my own. The comments most of these people are leaving sound ridiculous. A company will want to make as much money as possible and not turn down service. Sounds to me like an overwhelmed staff who just do not want to deal with it.
I actually got the same response when I called in an order to go. The lady on the other end continually huffed each time I asked if I could make a carryout order, she would reply we are too busy we would loose your order. I have to ask the same question if you are so busy then tell people to go away but when your business dies don't complain. Maybe someone else should open up a place right across from yours call it "The real original pancake house who wants your business".
