There is high turnover for baggers. Most hires are kids and college students. As their schedules change from summer to the school term, there are often gaps as new Courtesy Clerks are hired. Stores need applicants with full availabity, and the truth is, many applicants simply don't have the availability the store requires. Also, Courtesy Clerks do more than bag. Since most shoppers leave their shopping carts out in the lot, they have to pull a bagger from the checking area to retrieve carts. Also one is also on maintenance, sweeping and collecting the trash. In addition they may be helping to condition the aisles, pulling product forward and straightening product on the shelves. And that's why there are no baggers. Oh yea, and baggers aren't paid much more than minimum wage.
They had them last time l went. Wow minimum wage.? No wonder they cant keep anyone. I noticed they changed managers.
Better than Wal-Mart with tons of few open check stands and tons of do-it-yourself lanes. I don't work there - I'm not fond of using those.
