How is this place closed on weekends?? This used to be a thriving equestrian center, even in the off season. It was open all yeae, EVERY DAY. A wonderful place has been destroyed. So sad for the volunteers and the horses.

I am actually a camper here at this camp and it sucks. I get what you mean in your review for this place. Today I just saw someone whip one of the horses with a "wand" or as I like to call it the metal torture whip. It is just supposed to be used for a tiny tap on the shoulder just to move them or scoot them over but I don't think they use it for that. Today when I was brushing one of the horses she had hair missing and 2 scars on her left hind leg. It was very sad to see the horses like this and you can see the sadness in their eyes. Now there are only 3 horses they use for this camp and you need to share them with 5 people per horse. You only get to ride in the outdoor arena with someone leading you in a circle in only half of the arena. You only go around the circle 2 times which is only a 20 second ride. It really was sad. They now only have 19 horses and misery. I'm so sad that it used to be thriving and now it is destroyed.

Bunny Liss, yep. The horses used to be treated well. The training was least resistance, positive reinforcement. Now it is harsh and negative. I used to work at Danada when it was great. They don't even have trail rides anymore in all that beautiful forest preserve. Very sad and a misuse of taxpayer money.

Replying to Kris Slape: You absolutely dont need a wand to a ride a horse, I've gone to stables where I've never seen a wand actually being used, because it isnt "neccessary" nor is it "suicide". I'm absolutely baffled by your short-sightedness to not reply to these reports, but instead deny them and continue your abusive ways.

I visit there often and found the animals to be beautiful, healthy, and calm. The staff is just amazing with so much horse experience. Staff has always open to my questions about horses. They have a wonderful class schedule for beginner to advanced rider, and even those just wanted to learn about horses. They have so much variety, from trail classes, to a grooming class. I really love it there. The only negative I have ever seen when I visited was actually from visitors. Horses are not dogs, their behaviors and communication is so very different. I’ve seen people disregarding posted signs about feeding horses; allowing their dogs to run unleashed, nipping at horses; people leaning over fencing to touch horses; or allowing kids to climb all over the fencing like it’s a playground. This is such a wonderful place for all ages. Wish visitors would educated themselves more on horses, because this is an incredible place to learn.
