I have lived by Commanche for 30 years, and came here with my friends as a teenager before it was a public park. There were actually 3 or 4 towers at one time. One was knocked down about 30 years ago. Supposedly for development. The last one was knocked down sometime after that (many years after.)

From what i heard it was used to store weapons food and used to lookout so a ambush could be set
