Ditto to josh's answer
I've done it 2 or 3 times from Dodge park to Edison ct. It's rather narrow and twisting with water levels and speeds which vary greatly depending on recent precipitation. It's not your typical river float trip. I've kayaked this stretch so many times that I could do it with my eyes closed. Trying to tube it was the next semi logical step to make it a challenge again. I would recommend getting to know the river by boat and then decide if you really want to try to tube it.
The Clinton river is not a tubing river. I wouldn't advise tubing down the river, but there isn't anything stopping you from trying! Also The Clinton River Canoe & Kayak Rental does not rent out tubes.
I'll be honest. Could you tube it? Yes. But.... One key thing to keep in mind this river is FULL of broken, sunken trees from years of floods. I'd only go down it in a hard boat. (I.E. Canoe or kayak) other wise you risk getting stabbed by a tree that's under water you didn't see and/or cuts injury.
