The public bus system is very good. The pink line occasionally runs late but the lime bus, which travels up to the canyons base is very timely. Also remember, unless you are skiing at deer valley, park city and the canyons are connected by lifts and a pass.
Hi. There are shuttles going from Canyons to PC. They solve the skiing, but in my opinion, i would rent a car if you can.
We were just there a few weeks ago and we stayed outside of park city and skied both the Canyons and Park City. The busses were super easy to use. If you ski just buy a relay and it's no problem at all! We never used our hotel shuttle. Uber ski and or uber XL had good prices from the hotel to the airport!
I'm a local and enjoy using the free city buses to get into and out of town. The electric bus leaves canyons base every 10 minutes.
Pass on the car. Parking is a pain. Park City also has FREE public transportation, buses and shuttles. Also. There is a large LYFT/UBER presence.
Get a car. Lots to do in the area
Park City and canyons have connected trails so you can ski both and come back to which ever place YOU are staying
There are many great sights around PC you may want to rent a car to enjoy, however Richard is correct.
PROBABLY NOT AS THE HOTELS PROVIDE SHUTTLES FOR GUESTS AND PARK CITY HAS FREE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION At Canyons you can walk to breakfast, to the ski lifts, to dinner at many fine restauraunts and much more! Also you have Uber or Lyft if you want to go into Main St Park City.

Can you use the Epic Pass to ski at the Canyons? It only lists Park City on the resort list.
