Sorry you had a bad experience but the place has been cash only for the twelve years I've been going there. Sounds like a private business preference.
Might be due to Biden repealing Trump's bank deregulations, so now businesses get hit with 3 to 4 percent processing fees when accepting cards for payments. So cash is king.
