The roll in showers now have shower seats
Surprisingly, I spoke with an agent at the 1000 Island Harbor Hotel, she told me they have only roll in showers without a shower seat. I wonder how they would like to take a shower in a wheelchair that will get wet and then have to sit in a wet chair the rest of the day. I am also amazed they do not state they are ADA compliant on their website. Probably a good thing because not having a fixed seat in a roll in showers is a violation of ADA regulations. Will be looking for lodging elsewhere.
Michelle, I didn't get to see any of the other rooms that may be handicapped accessible, with or without a seat, idk, but I would call Debbie and ask her because you are right that it doesn't make sense. Pool, lobby, hot tub area, restaurant, all were handicapped accessible. Perhaps the person you spoke with didn't know.
With this hotel opening in 2014 they have to be ADA accessible. Dinning room and pool are accessible. Please call with any questions you have the staff will be happy to answer your question.
