Natural state? LOL The place is a slag dump! Most of Liberty Borough is built on slag. In the 50's 60's, the valleys were filled in and the stream was dammed to make the pond that's there now. It used to be called The Catfish Pond and many a misspent youth was spent there. The "nature" trails that are there now were carved by dirt bikes and keggers. One dry summer when the water was low, the roof of a stolen car became visible in the pond. Later that day 9 or more vehicles were pulled from the "pristine" waters. As the name suggests, the Catfish Pond only yielded trash fish. The real challenge were the plentiful carp. The other challenge was plinking the empty bottles that littered the surface with a bb gun to sink them.
You can fish. There are some sizable fish in the center of the pond but I would not eat them. DMH does also border the Yough River.
Yes, I believe it is. I know fishing is allowed up the river leading to it. I have never seen anyone fish on the trail as the creek is pretty small unless we have had a good rain. But there are no signs prohibiting one from fishing. Further in from the well worn trail may prove a better place to fish in my opinion. Less affected by the years of people walking through and disrupting the natural state of the area.
There's a small pond.. don't think there are any fish in it, other than minnow's
Yes
