I was there twice and yes for the most part it is very true. They could have possibly changed and gotten better since I last was there but I doubt it. A lot of the staff doesn't care. They take in too many patients and there were girls literally on mattresses on the floor in the hallway because they didn't have enough room. Constantly repeating the same topics because of people leaving and coming so frequently. It wasn't a safe place for me. I recommend the behavioral health hospital in Peoria, IL if your child is able to be transferred or if they have to go again in the future. Try and ask LP as many questions as you can of your concerns. They a lot of times changed the subject with my parents when they asked serious questions.
My daughter was sent there in May after telling the ER she had contiplated taking pills. The ER threatened to take custody of her if I didn’t not send her. This was a 6 hour ordeal on a Friday night in the ER between the doctor and I. I wanted to take my child home. By ambulance she went Saturday at 8am. I was able to see her the next day on Sunday for visiting and she was still in the same clothes from the ER. She was still in the same sanitary pad. I sent appropriate clothing with her in the ER. She said girls would smear feces and blood on walls in the bathrooms. I don’t know how many times I called down there demanding to know why she hasn’t been allowed to shower. My daughter came home in 5 days because they said she wasn’t a risk. I wouldn’t send my dog to this facility. I as a mother cry from seeing her in there.
