I have a mother in law who lives in Chesapeake, has no money and needs help. My sister in law takes care of her but she needs time for herself. Is there any help anywhere?

Nina, there is a medicaid waiver that is called CCC Plus, I believe. It was formally the EDCD (Elderly or Disabled Consumer Directed) waiver. It is based on financial and care level needs. I would suggest that you call the Health Department, not Social Services. If you can't find any information, contact the Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) in Richmond and ask specifically for the Medicaid waiver for disabled elderly. This will provide medicaid and respite services for your SIL if your MIL qualifies.

Yes call them and see what they can do. They usually have companies that will sit with the disabled or elderly. Maybe Social services can point you in the right direction.
