Recently made a purchase at the Nike store in Edinburgh and the lady in inserted my credit card in a hand held scanner than tolde the amount than had me insert it in the scanner pn the counter Why ?

It is possible that the mobile (hand-held scanner) wasn't able to read the card. When this happens, the transaction is transferred to the regular register. Technology isn't perfect :)

Good luck in getting a manager! They will not even take a local check!!! No signs posted stating this!!!! Rude young lady acting like a manager!
