Where do you call for section eight that are open now

Lisa Rassi | Oct 31, 2020

Please, someone tell me how to sign up for section 8 or subsidized apartments.

To apply for housing go to the housing authority of the City of Austin website or call up the central office on Riverside. Public housing, which is subsidized housing has a shorter waiting list than section 8. The housing choice voucher program, section 8 it's hard to get into, every once in awhile the housing authority will have a lottery and those chosen will be put on the waiting list for section 8. It's all based on income and your rent will usually be 30 to 40% of your income. I believe applicants that are disabled or have children are put at the top of the list.
