The reason others claim to be older than San Fernando Cathedral is that theirs were established in the United States of America. San Fernando was established in Nueva España. So then it was in México and then the Republic of Texas and existed for well over a century before the area where it is became part of the USA. And so although San Fernando Cathedral has not moved, the geopolitical boundaries where it is located have changed many times since it was established.
It is the oldest standing church building in Texas.
I've never heard that. Very doubtful.
