This may sound crazy to all the microwavers out there, but I feel it makes everything chewy. I'm a big fan of using the oven, or even just a toaster oven. Whether you thaw depends on consistency. With bread and bagels, the low density makes it irrelevant, but if your pastry has jam or something, not thawing can cause issues while trying to heat center without burning outside. One workaround is to microwave at really low power (like 30%) for a short burst, then finish in oven to get flakey crust back. Just don't thaw anything on the counter, as condensation will ruin your plans. Good luck!
Sure ... Do it all the time with baked goods. Freeze their bagels all the time.
For sure. Add some butter on top. Do not microwave for more than 10 or 15 secs at a time
Yes. Either above or put a small glass of hot water in the microwave works as well with the paper towels.
You most definitely can. My suggestion is when you take it out of your freezer allowed to unthaw totally. Then place some moist paper towel around it or possibly two or three this will add moisture back to the pastry. Spread a little butter on top of it pop it in your microwave for about 10 seconds or more if needed and you'll have a delicious dessert.
