Has anyone else had trouble with the Red Ale bottles? The last few times I have bought Red Ale it foams like it was shaken. A lot of beer ends up on the counter. :(

It may have been old. If you get a bottle that's a year or so old or older, it will generally foam up pretty bad.

Yes it was in the fridge for more than a day.

Are you chilling it properly or opening it shortly after buying? Beer is packaged pretty consistently and should be less likely to be over carbonated. Leave sit in the refrigerator for a day.
