1 - Training is based only on competition and fitness, not self defense. 2 - It is mixed however there are beginner, intermediate, and advanced classes. Overall a great gym, excellent coaches, and the atmosphere and conradarie in your peer group is well above your level of fitness...
1. This is not self defense. It is a martial art that is used competitively. It will somewhat increase your ability for self defense since you will understand fighting techniques but self defense on the street is an entirely different concept altogether. If your sole focus is that, you may want to look into krav maga which is designed specifically for self defense. You do not have to compete in Muay Thai if you train here. 2. Classes are for beginners and you do not have to be in shape. Warning: Muay Thai will whip you into shape if you go consistently, that is for certain! I'm not an instructor or anything I just go there and it's great. If you have more questions check out the website and talk to Nadia. She is super friendly. Best of luck!
