I am sorry to hear that Iris. We are on our third dog in twenty five years with this practice and can say we have never had any problems. I think you need to sit down with the Vet in question and have a talk.
Hi Iris we are so sorry for your loss of Nemo. He came in for some blood in his stool and as we had discussed there was no blood on rectal exam or any of the stool on rectal . We did discuss that if you see any signs to definitely bring him back. You said he was coughing up blood it is possible he went into heart failure or had a cancerous process in his lungs, all of these things were not evident on just a physical exam and would require more invasive diagnostics. He did not present for respiratory signs the week prior so his chest was not x-rayed. Also if he did go into heart failure I do not think the blood in his stool was related to that. Heart failure can present over night and lung tumors can also start bleeding acutely. It is very hard to predict what will happen in the health of a 17 year old dog just like a 95 year old person. We are so sorry for your loss, Nemo was such a great little dog. Hope you take comfort in your memories with him and the great long life he lived.
