Schedule II meds (opiates) are a last resort. You & your provider will go over a plan of treatment to combat your pain. This is only a small example, such as meditation, physical therapy, prescription anti-inflammatories-Mobic, steroids-Medrol or Prednisone, nerve related-Lyrica or Neurontin, spinal injections, Schedule III meds, like tramadol or Belbuca, & if you suffer from depression or anxiety, will refer you to a mental health provider, if you do not have one. Provide them with any records, previously performed procedures or meds taken that relate to why you are there & whether or not any worked.
They don't like to prescribe opiods, but they love those Non-FDA approved Epidural Steroid Injections, which can give you Arachnoiditis. Google that, it's a joy , NOT !! ..... They also like Spinal Cord Stimulators, which, like ESIs, make them A LOT more money than prescribed medications....
