We have a Coats wheel balancer. It is a spin type balancer. Some performance or race shops us a balancer that applies pressure to the spinning tire to simulate the car on the road. As for weight, we use “sticky weights” as well as hammer-on weights. Each application is considered. We did a set of tires for a custom 1962 Corvette. We were able to hide the sticky weights behind the lip of the rim for a clean look. Just ask us about your wheels so we can adjust or method accordingly.
I'm not quite sure what kind of Weights are used to balance the tires but I do know that my car has never written so smooth as since I purchased my last tires there they aligned and gave me a ride that is very sweet.
