I used to work at Half Price Books and we used to buy things that we would intend to throw away. They may give you a nominal amount (like $1) but at least you would get rid of them.
The store in Dallas off NW Highway sells a pack of about 20 or so for a few dollars. I don't know if they're culling existing inventory or they do purchase VHS for a modest amount.
Best thing to do is just call him and find out and that way you don't have to go down there with them and be turned down so just look up the closest Half Price Books and call him real fast I'll be able to tell you right away
