You should contact a local rescue such as DAWG, Arf house, or Muttypawz.
Have any pictures?
From my experience, you have to take them to the pound & they (D. A. W. G.} will pick up the animals they have room for at the time... A political agreement with Denison pound. But if you live in Sherman it's the same policy, except it will take longer for (D. A. W. G. ) to pick them up, if at all...
I would also place an ad in the local paper. Unfortunately, pit bulls have kinda got a bad Rap. Some know that they are very good dogs and very good with kids, but others can't get over that fear, so they might not be adopted as quickly as other dogs there. I would ask if there is a time limit on when they need to be adopted. I'm really not sure. They are a rescue center so surely they don't euthanize them but I would call and ask and if so, place an ad in the paper. There are a lot of pit lovers out there that may not be able to afford the$100 adoption fee at the rescue center. I say this because I went with my mother there to get my son a dog and just the sight of the pit made her very nervous. I know my son would have loved a bigger dog but we ended up with an applehead Chihuahua. We love our dog dearly, but the pits, well they got left out.
