Only place to dig for fossils in Wheeler County is at Wheeler County High School in Fossil. Fossil beds located behind high school containing Bridge Creek Flora Fossils. A variety of fossilized plants of John Day Basin Area. Fee for digging listed on Fossil Beds entrance board and help fund Fossil School District programs. Bring your own digging tools or borrow from their shed. Fossil Merc also sells 'You Dig It' buckets with tools.
