Louisville is fairly close. The Louisville Slugger museum is there. I haven't been to the city, but a friend went and had a good time. A little bit farther, but I think still within your timeline, are Nashville and Pittsburgh. Everyone knows about Nashville. Pittsburgh is less known, but a great place. Lots of culture. Many museums. One for every age or interest. Lots of pro sports. Have dinner on the top of Mt. Washington for a spectacular view.
