Yes they will still groom your doggie. While you are there buy some flea prevention.
You can add a few drops of vinegar to their water ...fleas don't like it. Check on line for natural ways to rid yourself and your g dog of fleas. They work great... No chemicals and won't harm your dog.
Advantix or Advantage in the right formulation for his size and weight. Apply to neck and back as per instructions. Also, get flea spray and spray where he sleeps and spends most time. Vacuum, vacuum, bacuum.
