My dash keeps reading key in ignition when I am holding the key in my hand would this be the ignition switch going out?

Google said you had a question for me about auto zone. I don't work there. I was visiting from Denver and while in Kansas my car hit 100,000 miles. When I got to joplin, my serpentine belt broke...hence the trip to autozone. However, they were very helpful. They complimented me on my appearance, and even even carried the parts out to my car. Such big strong guys.🙄🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️
