"THATS NOT TRUE"!!! (Reply to Original comment); "83rd Cottage IS NOT THE SAME UNCLE JOHNS FROM 69TH CALUMET, PERIOD." DIFFERENT PEOPLE/FAMILY(?) ALL TOGETHER. LEONS FROM 83RD COTTAGE "BOUGHT" THE NAME FROM UNCLE JOHNS 69TH CALUMET, CHANGED FROM LEONS TO UNCLE JOHNS(Purchased Name). The OLD MAN, "UNCLE JOHN" L8R PASSED AWAY...BUT THE ORIGINAL CUSTOMER BASE TRIED THE "NEW" UNCLE JOHN ON COTTAGE AND WAS HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED. SO MUCH SO, "THAT THE "ORIGINAL" UNCLE JOHN FAMILY(?) DECIDED TO APPEASE ITS "FAN BASE", AND THEN REOPENED, BUT UNDER A DIFFERENT NAME SINCE THE "NAME"...THE "NAME" ONLY HAD BEEN "SOLD"! SO, THEY OPENED UNDER THE NAME."UNC J's" BBQ @ E.47TH ST/VINCENNES! SO, PLS...DONT EVER GET IT TWISTED, "THE ORIGINAL UNCLE JOHNS From 69TH Calumet", is NOW "UNCLE J's" @ 504 E.47TH @VINCENNES. The NEW UNCLE "JOHNS" @ 83RD COTTAGE IS JUST THE NAME, ITS ACTUALLY STILL "LEONS BAR B Q"!! TRIED THEM 3 TIMES AFTER THEY OPENED, THEY WERE "HORRIBLE"...HAVEN'T BEEN BACK SINCE.
Gives a nice portion but links are over cooked. Very dry.
Since Mr. Mack Sevier, A.K.A. Uncle John's passed in 2015, his WANNA B places have BEEN the pits. No pun intended, his ppl pretend he is still ALIVE enjoying retirement. They fought over his name&💰. The only store that is similar is on 4700 S. Vincennes, stepdaughter owns Mr. J's,his original aquarium grill is at that store, no duplications elsewhere.
They r nasty. They boil them then smoke them for a while. That's why its nasty. Suppose just smoke all the meat.Old school Leons, old school. 1980ties.
Not good at all..sauce to thick n tips was almost meatless...n the taste wasn't really good either...i will not buy from there anymore...
Best Ribs ,hot links in the city.
It's weird when people say that. Don't everybody know the pitman was the same guy at Barbara Ann's
Outerbanks
That is not Leon’s BBQ when they first open on 83rd n Cottage Uncle Johns wife from 69th n Calumet was there. Maybe she retired or something. Their links are similar to 69th just not as big. Uncle Johns niece is the owner on 47th and their ribs are a hit or miss.
Do you still sale the sauce .
