Service dogs can be for more than just physical disabilities, and according to ADA regulations service dogs are not to be turned away. I understand your point (and agree), but as of right now it's not permissible to verify the animal much beyond simply asking how the animal performs service. Unfortunately too many people today stretch this by including the idea that a "emotional support animal" is a service animal. A service animal requires extensive training and certification, while a support/therapy animal does not require the training a service animal does.. Thus as they are not acknowledged service animals they should not be in locations such as grocery stores. It's just a difficult "legally" process to identify a service animal against another animal someone says is for a need.
