The prices may be higher than average, but you are guaranteed a quality car met to CarMax's standards. All cars must go through a rigorous point system to be sold on their lot. Also, the cars are normally in quality condition for the price. Not all cars are overpriced though. We got an amazing deal on a 2013 VW. I'd reccomend Carmax to anyone 100%.

Everyone in my family has purchased vehicles from Carmax dealers in a couple of States. Good prices, and great trade in allowance. I think this may be what they do so there is no haggling. They give you a better trade in. Purchased a car in April of this year. Was $2000 less than a local Nissan dealer. With better mileage and a year newer. My trade in was listed at $600. From Kelly blue book, Carmax Knoxville gave me $2000. Had the same experience in San Antonio, so we are happy with them.

I did lots of research before buying. Found them to be right along with the lowest prices. Great experience.

I got a great deal compared to other places I checked.

They ARE over-priced when compared to a dealer. What you are paying for is the "convenience" of not having to barter on the price. Some people loathe that, others like it. But I'd say you pay a good 10% more at Carmax....

No car max is a horrible dishonest company. They sold me a car that died the day I bought it and that also had several problems that should have been fixed before selling it. I even reported a noise it was making within the first 30 days and they lied and said it was something else minor when in fact it was over a $2000 job. Carmax are crooks! Plan & simple. This was in Atlanta at the beaver ruin road location in norcross! Worst experience of my life.

I do agree that some of their vehicles are priced a little high. While the prices of other vehicles are very reasonable or lower than their competitors. I personally research my target automobiles first, before searching the inventory available at CarMax. Which has led to the purchase of two vehicles from CarMax, and potentially two more in the near future. Plus the experience was exceptional and the purchase of the vehicle was fast. If the other CarMax facilities are staffed like the one in Knoxville, Tn. (Turkeycreek), pretty sure you will not be disappointed. Just check it out, can't be any worse than any other car lot, besides being bothered by sales people.

The so called rigorous inspection is not so rigorous or the people doing it dont know what they're doing. I personally won't buy from anyone other then Carmax but I perform my own inspection. Bought a 2014 Nissan Pathdinder from them it was missing the splash guard that protects the belts and pulleys. Also got a 2014 Frontier from them thats in the shop now because of 4 wheel drive problems and the overdrive button doesn't work.

I haven't purchased there, but a few of my friends swear by it.
