Diverse dress is acceptable but depending upon why you are going might dictate your level of dress. We seldom go out to dinner in shorts/tees
I've seen everything from a suit and tie to polo and cargo shorts. I recommend dressing for dinner, but that's just me .
Of course you must be appropriate. A higher level than casual would be minimal, with a business casual or better being ideal
